The San Diego Padres acquired second baseman Jurickson Profar from the A's earlier in December which brought catcher Austin Allen to the Green and Gold and a player to be named later.
That player to be named later would ultimately be Buddy Reed -- and there is plenty to get excited about with the talented centerfielder.
As far as his numbers go, during his Double-A stint in the Padres organization, the 24-year-old slashed .228/.310/.388 with a career-high 14 home runs and 50 RBI in 121 games last season. He was also ranked seventh in the Texas League with 23 stolen bases.
