Waiting for Pat Venditte — switch-thrower joins A’s tonight

BOSTON – Some good lines as switch-thrower Pat Venditte was traveling from Nashville to Boston, where he’ll join the A’s and become a big-leaguer for the first time:

Bullpen coach Scott Emerson on how much Venditte can pitch: “We like to think he’s 35 pitches from each arm.”

Clubhouse manager Steve Vucinich, who has Venditte wearing No. 29 – “and 92 right-handed.”

Love the headline in the team’s news release: “A’s Select SHP Pat Venditte from Nashville”

I spoke with Billy Burns, who was Venditte’s roommate in Nashville before Burns got called up. “He’s funky out there,” Burns said.
