Vogt goes on family leave; A's call up Maxwell

The A's placed catcher Stephen Vogt on the family medical leave list on Saturday, the team announced.

To replace Vogt, Oakland called up catcher Bruce Maxwell from Triple-A Nashville, and the club also transferred right-hander Fernando Rodriguez (strained right shoulder) to the 60-day disabled list to clear a spot for Maxwell on the 40-man roster.

The 25-year-old Maxwell, a second-round Draft pick by the A's in 2012, has yet to make his Major League debut. Maxwell has hit well at Triple-A this season, posting a .321 batting average with 10 home runs and 41 RBIs in 60 games.
