Vogt exits game early after being hit by foul

OAKLAND -- A's catcher Stephen Vogt went down in a heap after taking a foul tip to the groin area and departed Sunday's game against the Mariners in the eighth inning.

Vogt, who started the game at first base before taking over at catcher to begin the eighth, remained on the ground for several minutes with a trainer by his side. Vogt slowly walked off the field, and manager Bob Melvin called on Carson Blair to assume catching duties.
