ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Umpire Dale Scott has left a game in Texas after being struck by a line drive.
Scott was the second base umpire for Wednesday night's game between Oakland and the Rangers. In the fourth inning, A's third baseman Brett Lawrie hit a liner that appeared to hit the Scott on the upper left leg around his hip.
A Rangers trainer immediately went to check on Scott, who walked gingerly off the field after briefly conferring with the trainer and crew chief Lance Barrett. Scott grimaced in pain, but never left his feet.
