The Oakland Athletics are 12-21, 8.5 games out of first place in the division, and currently just a half game away from being the worst team in baseball. Are things really going to pick up?
Yes, I believe so. I just don’t think it will happen with Scott Kazmir
on the roster. Each game this season Kazmir’s numbers have regressed to somewhere in between his all-star form and the Scott Kazmir we saw July through September of last year. It is still an incredibly small sample, but each game Kazmir has pitched his earned runs, batting average on balls in play, and hits allowed have increased, while his strikeouts and strand rate have decreased.
