Tigers RHP Jeff Ferrell exits after taking line drive to back of head

Detroit Tigers right-handed reliever Jeff Ferrell took a line drive off the back of his head in the top of the eighth inning of a game against the visiting Oakland Athletics.

The ball, off the bat of designated hitter Ryon Healy, had a velocity of 102 mph, according to the Tigers.

Ferrell did not fall but immediately walked to the Tigers dugout before being escorted to the clubhouse.

Ferrell was relieved by Joe Jimenez.
