Oakland A’s owner John Fisher is not welcome in North Lake Tahoe. Or, at least, not at Tree House Cafe — a year-old coffee shop in Kings Beach with an A’s flag out front and a message for the Athletics owner inside: “We reserve the right to refuse service to any member of the Oakland Athletics’ Ownership Group.”
The note — which is posted proudly on the counter alongside self-serve cream and sugar — includes less-safe-for-work fine print that says Fisher can also “f*ck off,” a sentiment likely shared by a good chunk of a fanbase that was blindsided by the A’s owner’s plan to move the team to Las Vegas after 55 years in Oakland, despite a viable future home at Howard Terminal.
