OAKLAND — For A’s manager Bob Melvin, the game had an unpleasant but familiar taste.
After squandering an early 3-0 lead on Thursday, the A’s led 2-0 after three innings on Friday before falling 5-2 to the Texas Rangers.
Oakland had chances early, loading the bases with no outs in the first against starter Lance Lynn, but squeezed out just a single run.
“The game was similar to yesterday where we scored three runs,” Melvin said. “We had some guys on base and had a really good pitcher on the run, and he got out of it with one and he was a little different guy after that.
