CLEVELAND — Stephen Piscotty is humbled and appreciative to be recognized for his character and efforts to help others.
He admits, though, there would have been a better way.
“It’s nice, but it’s a little bittersweet,” the A’s outfielder said Tuesday after learning he has been named the recipient of the 54th annual Hutch Award. “If Mom doesn’t get ALS, you don’t have to go through this.
“I would rather take that route, but it’s not the cards we were dealt. It is very meaningful, to bring some positivity to the situation, and hopefully we can carry that momentum and do some special things as far as curing ALS.
