NASHVILLE – The A’s and White Sox continued discussing a Brett Lawrie trade Wednesday afternoon, but it doesn’t appear a sure thing that a deal gets done between the sides.
A prospective trade would send two minor leaguers back to Oakland in exchange for Lawrie, who could fill a need for Chicago at third base. The sticking point, a source told CSN California, is agreeing on who those prospects would be.
The A’s feel they’ve got one of the most versatile infielders available in Lawrie -- who turns just 26 in January and comes with two more years of team control -- and they want what they consider fair compensation.
