It was a see-saw game that saw the Padres, who earlier in the day announced Pat Murphy as their interim manager, erase a two-run deficit in the eighth, highlighted by Matt Kemp's tying home run off righty Evan Scribner.
The A's Ben Zobrist homered in the sixth, a go-ahead, two-run shot in support of lefty Scott Kazmir, who had an RBI hit of his own in a three-run fifth inning in which Burns notched a two-run triple.
Kazmir gave up three runs (two earned) in five innings, giving up five hits along the way -- including Austin Hedges' first big league home run, a solo shot in the third inning.
