The Oakland A's long stadium con has finally found a mark, it appears. Late Wednesday night, several Nevada and Las Vegas publications reported that the franchise signed a binding agreement to buy land in Vegas for a future ballpark.
The relocation of the team after more than 50 years in Oakland is not quite a done deal, but everyone involved sounds confident that Nevada legislators will give the A's the half-billion dollars in tax breaks they want in order to seal the deal. And, critically, the city of Oakland says that the Howard Terminal negotiations — long on life support — are over.
