The closest I ever got to Oakland A’s owner John Fisher was on the night of April 17, 2018.
For eight years, from 2010 until 2018, I roamed the Oakland Coliseum as a reporter and social media producer. For whatever reason, on that night, I dawdled around the dirt track in front of the A’s home dugout shortly before first pitch. Then I saw the elusive owner talking and laughing with A’s president Dave Kaval and pitching coach Scott Emerson. I did a double take, pulled out my phone and snapped a quick photo.
