ARLINGTON, Texas – Santiago Casilla was unhappy enough with the four runs he gave up in blowing a save and taking a 5-2 loss to the Rangers Friday that the A’s closer decided it would be prudent not to talk to the media.
Come Saturday, however, he was more than ready for a chat because “it’s a new day. That happened yesterday.”
A couple of soft singles off pitches both Casilla and catcher Josh Phegley thought were good got the closer in trouble. Before long, a Mike Napoli sacrifice fly cost him his second blown save, and a Joey Gallo three-run homer on a 3-2 pitch saddled him with his second loss.
