The Athletics’ decision to effectively crash on Sacramento’s couch for the 2025 season (and maybe many more) has already caused the city’s home team, the Triple-A River Cats, to tweak their schedule — despite the River Cats trying to keep the move as quiet as possible.
The River Cats will play their home series against the Tacoma Rainiers in Tacoma from June 10-15 this summer, according to news releases from both teams. Tacoma’s announcement states that MLB made the schedule change request for field condition concerns in Sacramento, with Sacramento’s news release hinting the move came directly from an October agreement to not turn Sutter Health Park into a turf field.
