DETROIT — The A’s bullpen received a nice boost in the form of Ryan Buchter as he returned from nearly a two-month stint on the disabled list.
The left-handed Buchter, who was acquired by the A’s this offseason in a trade that sent Jesse Hahn to the Kansas City Royals, was considered a key pick up by the A’s. Not only does Buchter provide an option for A’s manager Bob Melvin as a specialist against tough left-handed hitters late in games, he is also capable of facing right-handers as well.
