Ruthian! Tampa Rays player hits walk-off slam for hospitalized boy

Daniel Robertson of the Tampa Rays arrived at Tropicana Field on Sunday in the throes of a miserable slump.

“I went into the cage Sunday morning and something clicked,” Robertson told the Washington Post. “Something was different. I felt totally ready.”

Meanwhile, at nearby Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, Joey Johnston, 15, was watching the Rays play the Miami Marlins on TV. A member of his high school baseball team, Johnston had had a rough couple weeks. On July 8, he jumped off a bridge into water, the Post reported. He landed hard, breaking bones in his neck and back.
