The Oakland Athletics are building an impressive crop of young starters that could make Sonny Gray a valuable trade chip by the summertime, suggests Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Kendall Graveman, Jharel Cotton and Sean Manaea are all progressing nicely in the Oakland rotation, perhaps giving the A’s flexibility to trade from their pitching surplus for outfield help. “Sonny Gray could bring those kind of pieces, and more,” Rosenthal suggests.
Any deal for Gray, of course, is contingent on the 27-year-old right-hander restoring his value following a brutal 2016 season.
