OAKLAND – After exiting the game in the top of the fourth Monday, A’s starter Jesse Chavez had plenty of time to cool down and reflect on his struggles.
By the time the right-hander addressed the media, he was still steamed at himself after giving up six runs and nine hits that led to a 9-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.
“I’ve got to sit down, think about it,” Chavez said in a hushed tone. “I’ve gotta go back and look at the tape, some mechanical things. My upper body is getting away from me … where the ball goes side to side across the plate instead of up and down.
