NASHVILLE – The A’s are on the verge of adding yet another bullpen arm, as free agent John Axford has reportedly agreed to terms on a contract pending a physical.
The deal is for $10 million over two years, with potentially more in incentives, according to the New York Post. News of the deal was first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.
Axford would be the third right-handed reliever Oakland has acquired this offseason, all with the likelihood of factoring into the late-inning picture. Ryan Madson’s three-year contract is expected to be announced after his physical Thursday.
