A's right-handed pitcher Jarrod Parker suffered a setback on Thursday, as he was diagnosed with a lateral elbow impingement in his right arm, A's trainer Nick Paparesta told reporters in Arizona.

He's scheduled for an MRI on Thursday.

Parker, trying to return from multiple significant arm injuries, left a back-field pitching session "yelling in pain," according to Matt Kawahara of the Sacramento Bee.

Parker has had two Tommy John surgeries on his throwing elbow and a third surgery in May of last year to repair a fracture to the medial epicondyle in his elbow.
