With his new book, “Dynastic, Bombastic, Fantastic: Reggie, Rollie, Catfish and Charlie Finley’s Swingin’ A’s,” sportswriter Jason Turbow explores one of the most colorful teams in baseball history.
Turbow, 47, has written for such publications as The New York Times, USA Today and SportsIllustrated.com, and contributes regularly to the Giants and A’s official magazines. He was just a toddler when the 1970s A’s were making their amazing run.
Growing up in Palo Alto, he rooted for the Giants. Now, as a sportswriter, he couldn’t resist the jaw-dropping story of the A’s colorful squad.
The notion for the book began years ago, when Turbow visited Cooperstown, New York, home of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
