OAKLAND – Well aware of the history-making NBA season taking place with their Coliseum neighbors, the A’s got in on the fun Saturday morning.
The entire team traded their cleats for sneakers and made the walk over to Oracle Arena to hold a 3-point and free-throw shooting contest before their Bay Bridge Series finale against the Giants.
It was an idea – hatched by A’s visiting clubhouse manager Mike Thalblum and approved by manager Bob Melvin – meant to lighten the mood with the regular-season opener just two days away.
“We try to do something every spring to mix it up a little bit,” Melvin said.
