Raul Alcantara makes shaky debut in A’s loss to Angels

As rough as Raul Alcantara’s big-league debut was, there was one big positive: The issues the Oakland starter had Monday were fixable.

Alcantara gave up five runs in three innings in the A’s 10-7 loss to the Angels, and he became the first A’s starter since 1930 to record three hit batters and a balk in one game.

Alcantara, 23, showed no indications of wildness at Triple-A Nashville, however, an indication that he was merely over-amped or had some nerves after finally making it to the majors. Alcantara’s minor-league career was delayed more than a year after 2014 Tommy John surgery.
