Rain leaves A’s wanting; they depart Detroit with 5-3 lead

DETROIT — Rain suspended the series finale between the Oakland Athletics and Detroit Tigers on Sunday at Comerica Park.

Umpires called a stop to the game with no outs in the bottom of the seventh and the A’s leading 5-3. The game will resume prior to a Sept. 6 matchup between the two clubs in Oakland.

Minutes before the rains came, the A’s had broken a 3-3 tie on a two-run double by Stephen Piscotty.

Mike Fiers, pitching against the team that traded him last season, got off to a rocky start, but allowed just two hits over his last five innings.
