PITTSBURG -- Police arrested two men who they say tried to steal bats from the car of former Oakland Athletics star Jose Canseco on Wednesday morning.
Canseco, currently playing the rest of the season for the independent league Pittsburg Diamonds, was at the Hampton Inn at 1201 California Avenue, when police were called there by the hotel manager around 3:30 a.m. They notified Canseco, who identified his property.Both men had outstanding warrants, police said.Canseco on Twitter posted a picture of the two Pittsburg police officers involved and thanked them for saving his bats.Check back for updates to this breaking story.
