The good news the A’s had been hoping for concerning Jarrod Parker didn’t materialize Friday.
Instead, an MRI showed the right-handed starter had refractured the medial epicondyle in his right elbow while releasing a pitch in a bullpen session Thursday.
The 27-year-old veteran, who hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2014’s spring Tommy John surgery, suffered a similar injury last May 8 and did not pitch the rest of the season.
The A’s had hoped for a better result based on the fact that the pain Thursday was on the opposite side of the elbow.
