The A’s youth movement will get another addition Friday when Jaycob Brugman joins the team at Tampa Bay.
Brugman, a 25-year-old outfielder, has been told of his first-ever big-league promotion, according to numerous sources. A left-handed hitter, Brugman is batting .288 with one homer, eight RBIs, 16 runs and 18 walks in 33 games after missing the beginning of Triple-A Nashville’s season with a calf injury. Brugman considered a good defensive center fielder.
Brugman’s promotion has not been announced and the corresponding move is not known. Reliever Frankie Montas is one potential candidate to be demoted after allowing two more home runs Wednesday and five in his past four outings; the right-hander has given up nine homers in all in 28 2/3 innings.
