The Athletics are one of the most storied franchises in baseball history, having existed since 1901. Over that time, they’ve won nine World Championships and 15 American League pennants. The A’s started in Philadelphia, of course, before moving to Kansas City in 1955 and eventually becoming today’s Oakland Athletics in 1968.
With a franchise that has been around for so long, there are plenty of players who have made an impact and helped to create history. The A’s have five retired numbers, as well the league-wide retirement of “42” for Jackie Robinson. There are 38 former A’s in the Baseball Hall of Fame, in addition to six former managers.
