On Friday, the Oakland Athletics announced that right-hander Jarrod Parker had successful surgery on his fractured right elbow on Wednesday, March 30.
More importantly, the team announced that he did not need to have a third Tommy John surgery, answering one of the biggest questions surrounding Parker’s injury. Parker had already undergone a pair of Tommy John procedures, and there have been few instances of a pitcher returning successfully from a third operation.
Parker’s surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache at the Kerlan Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles, and involved reconstructing the flexor tendor and ulnar collateral ligament.
