The A’s finally seem finished with Santiago Casilla in the ninth inning. On Sunday, the A’s completed perhaps their greatest comeback of the year and beat the Angels 11-10 in Anaheim.
Oakland’s stunning win was not easy. Casilla nearly caved in the bottom half of the eighth inning. Casilla has had plenty of interesting moments this year, but Sunday’s bases-loaded situation reached new levels of drama.
When the A’s escaped Casilla’s drama filled eighth inning, they were smart to hand the ball to Blake Treinen in the ninth. Bob Melvin‘s depleted bullpen is hardly equipped to hold leads, but Treinen seems like a better option than Casilla at this point.
