The Oakland Athletics and Chicago Cubs re-upped on their friendly trade relationship today when they agreed to a deal that sent outfielder-infielder Chris Coghlan to Oakland in exchange for starter-reliever Aaron Brooks.
This isn’t quite an eleventh hour trade like the one that sent Craig Kimbrel to San Diego in April last year, but paired with the Khris Davis trade from earlier this month, the A’s front office remains uncharacteristically active for late February (the only significant move the A’s made last February was signing Barry Zito to a minor league contract).
Most of us in A’s land were fairly confident that the Davis acquisition marked the end of the trade season for Oakland, but we were wrong.
