KANSAS CITY — The stunning power was hard to ignore. An injured outfielder provided an opening.
Prior to a four-game series against the Royals in Kansas City, the A’s called up left-handed, power-hitting outfielder and first baseman Seth Brown. Brown was just a couple days removed from hitting his 37th home run with triple-A Las Vegas — an very vividly within the A’s front office’s scope as a potential call-up.
But Brown, primarily a first baseman, was blockaded by another left-handed power-hitting first baseman. But he’s played 26 games in the outfield this year, 17 in left field where he will start for the A’s on Monday.
