Oakland A’s to call up Dillon Overton to start Saturday

The Oakland Athletics will call up left-hander Dillon Overton from Triple-A Nashville to start Saturday’s contest against the Los Angeles Angels, manager Bob Melvin announced (via Joe Stiglich, CSN). Eric Surkamp will start Friday’s contest.

In his last seven starts for the Nashville Sounds, Overton owns a 1.40 ERA with no home runs allowed. He’s struck out 38 and walked 15 in that stretch. Overton has not allowed a run in his last 25 1/3 innings. For the year, Overton has a 3.01 ERA with 72 strikeouts, 22 walks, and two home runs allowed.

Overton will be Oakland’s 11th starting pitcher this year and the fifth to make their first career major league start.
