Heading into the 2020 MLB Draft, the Oakland A’s find themselves with the 26th overall selection. It is a pick that they have had numerous times in the past, drafting in that spot seven previous times, including a streak from 2001 through 2004. However, the A’s have not had much success with that selection, as only Brent Gates and Jeremy Bonderman found their way to the majors.
It also speaks volumes as to successful that draft pick has been when Gates (5.5 bWAR) and Bonderman (4.9 bWAR) are the fourth and fifth most successful selections with the 26th overall pick in MLB Draft history.
