Peralta Community College District’s board of trustees directed an end to talks with the Oakland A’s regarding plans to build a stadium near Laney College, reports Kimberly Veklerov in the San Francisco Chronicle.
The A’s long quest for a new stadium appeared to be moving forward this year. The team pledged to name a site in 2017, and they ultimately chose a spot near Laney. However, they were met with resistance from the community and the school, culminating in the discontinuation of talks. Check out the Chronicle’s story for full details.
The A’s released the following statement Wednesday morning:
We are shocked by Peralta’s decision to not move forward.
