The Oakland A’s released pitcher Daniel Gossett on Monday, the team announced. To take his spot in the player pool, minor league pitcher Ben Bracewell was added and will report to the club’s alternate training camp in San Jose.
The 27-year-old Gossett was designated for assignment last Thursday, to make 40-man roster space for the activation of fellow pitcher Daniel Mengden from the injured list. The fact that Gossett was released means he cleared waivers without being claimed by any other team.
The right-hander was a 2nd-round draft pick by the A’s in 2014, and worked his way up to an MLB debut by 2017.
