The Oakland A's made a few roster moves on Tuesday, all of which were expected. The most important transaction was recalling left-hander Dillon Overton from Triple-A Nashville to make the start tonight (Tue) against the Astros. Sean Manaea was originally scheduled to start but ended up pitching in emergency long relief on Sunday, necessitating a new plan for Tuesday. Overton will face Houston lefty Dallas Keuchel in a veritable Battle of the Beards.
To make room for Overton, the A's placed Andrew Triggs on the disabled list. The right-handed reliever was struck in the shin by a Josh Donaldson line drive on Sunday (diagnosis: shin contusion).
