The Oakland Athletics placed top starter Rich Hill on the 15-day disabled list, the club announced today. The listing is retroactive to May 30, meaning he would be eligible to return to the rotation on June 14.
Hill will get an MRI Thursday for a left groin strain that has bothered him since his last start on May 29. Two attempts to return him to the rotation without a DL stint -- once last weekend in Houston and once this weekend in Cincinnati -- have failed after the injury bothered him in bullpen sessions.
The delayed disabled list decision was aided by the three off days the A's have enjoyed in the last eight days, including today.
