The Oakland Athletics have placed top starting pitcher Sonny Gray on the disabled list with a strained right trapezius, the club announced Sunday. The A's called up left-handed reliever Daniel Coulombe to take Gray's place on the active roster.
Sonny Gray does not expect he'll miss more than the minimum time, however:
Sonny says he got a cortisone shot in the area after Friday's start. Considers the injury mostly minor, expects to miss minimum time.

Gray is eligible to return June 5.
The issue started bothering Gray in Tampa Bay, where he pitched on May 15:
