The Oakland A’s placed outfielder Boog Powell on the disabled list Sunday morning, reports Susan Slusser of the S.F. Chronicle. To replace him on the roster, they called up OF/1B Mark Canha from Triple-A Nashville.
Powell sprained his knee during Friday’s game, reports Slusser. He had been serving as the primary CF in the early going, but was off to a slow start at the plate at just 4-for-24. It’s not yet clear how serious the injury is.
Canha had an excellent spring, with an 1.104 OPS and four homers in 52 plate appearances.
