The A’s lost Jesse Hahn to the 10 day DL on Saturday.
They also got support from Jharel Cotton, who made his return to the show after being sent down earlier in the month to Triple-A Nashville.
Cotton returned with a strong showing in the A’s 3-2 loss in New York. He allowed three earned runs and struck out five in 5.1 innings of work.
The young right-hander took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but exited shortly after allowing a two-run homer to Matt Holliday that gave the Yankees the lead.
