Starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz was removed from the Oakland Athletics' contest against the Houston Astros Monday night with a 2-1 count and one out in the bottom of the fifth inning under the escort of an A's trainer. Edward Mujica replaced Pomeranz with two runners on in a 1-1 tie. Pomeranz had completed 82 pitches to that point.
As Pomeranz was removed, Athletics radio announcer Vince Cotroneo said he had noticed Drew Pomeranz looking at his earlier in the game, so we have to wonder if he had a blister issue.
