Oakland A's designate Kendrys Morales for assignment

Needing to make space on their active roster, the A's announced Monday morning that first baseman Kendrys Morales was designated for assignment.

Taking Morales place is Mark Canha, who was returning to the active list from a right wrist sprain.

Morales was signed by the A's in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays early in the season after regular first baseman Matt Olson broke a bone in his right hand in the second game of the season. He never made much of an impact with his bat with Oakland, hitting .204 with one home run and seven RBI's in 34 games with Oakland.
