Oakland A's agree to one-year deal with Jonathan Lucroy, sources say

The Oakland Athletics have reached agreement on a one-year contract with free-agent catcher Jonathan Lucroy pending a physical exam, sources told ESPN.com Friday. The deal could be finalized over the weekend, said a source.

Lucroy, 31, is a two-time All-Star and the top catcher left on the free agent market. He'll move ahead of Bruce Maxwell and Josh Phegley on the depth chart and give the Athletics a veteran presence behind the plate to work with a young pitching staff.

Lucroy joins Nick Hundley of the Giants, Rene Rivera of the Angels and Chris Stewart of the Braves as the fourth free-agent catcher to sign a one-year major-league contract this offseason.
