The Oakland A’s activated pitcher Trevor Cahill from the disabled list Thursday morning, the team announced. He’ll start the day’s game in Houston. To make room on the roster, fellow pitcher Chris Bassitt was optioned back to Triple-A Nashville.
It’s been over a month since we’ve seen Cahill, who last pitched on June 2. He eventually went on the DL with a strained Achilles, marking his second time on the list this season (previously: elbow in mid-May). The right-hander only needed one rehab start in the minors this time, in which he threw four scoreless innings and struck out seven batters.
