The Oakland A’s activated shortstop Marcus Semien from the 60-day disabled list on Thursday, the team announced. To make room on the 25-man roster, pitcher Jharel Cotton was placed on the 10-day DL; to make room on the 40-man roster, pitcher Andrew Triggs was transferred to the 60-day DL.
Semien played only 11 games this year before hitting the DL to have surgery on his right wrist. He’s missed more than two months, and in the meantime his place at shortstop has been filled by a committee including veteran backup Adam Rosales and rookies Chad Pinder and Franklin Barreto.
