Notes: Butler gets rare start at first base for A's

TORONTO — With the A’s facing a left-hander for one of the few times this season, they’re sporting a different looking lineup Saturday against the Blue Jays.

That includes Billy Butler grabbing his first baseman’s glove. Butler, who’s made all six of his previous starts this season at designated hitter, is playing first base in large part because of all the left-handed hitters getting a day off against Toronto lefty J.A. Happ.

Catcher Stephen Vogt, right fielder Josh Reddick and first baseman Yonder Alonso are among those not in the lineup. With Mark Canha needed in right field to spell Reddick, Butler gets a rare look at first base.
