OAKLAND -– When it comes to the team playing next door, the nostalgia is kicking in for A’s manager Bob Melvin.
Melvin enjoyed watching the Warriors punch their ticket to the NBA Finals on Wednesday night. A Bay Area native, Melvin wasn’t at Oracle Arena for the Game 5 victory, but he did see several playoff games in person back in 1975, the last time the Warriors won a title.
Melvin’s godfather, Dick D’Oliva, was the trainer for that Warriors squad.
“I was a big Rick Barry fan,” Melvin said Thursday. “From Al Attles to Keith Wilkes, Charles Johnson, Phil Smith coming off the bench.
